CDA Introduces Electric Buses on 13 Routes
CDA launches electric buses on 13 Islamabad routes, enhancing eco-friendly transport with charging stations, driver training, and modern commuting options.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has initiated the deployment of electric buses on 13 routes in Islamabad, aiming to improve public transportation and reduce environmental pollution.
Arrival of Electric Buses
By December 30, 2024, 146 out of 160 electric buses have reached Islamabad, and the remaining 14 are on their way from China.
Charging Infrastructure Development
Construction of a charging station at Zero Point is underway, following earlier delays due to tender cancellations. A new tender at reduced rates has been issued to expedite the process. Additionally, chargers and parking facilities are being prepared to support the new bus routes.
Driver Training and Temporary Offices
The CDA plans to establish temporary offices in containers to manage operations. Drivers will undergo a month-long training program to ensure safe and efficient services.
Approved Routes
The initial phase includes routes such as Park Road, B-17, PWD, and I-8/I-9, which have received the necessary approvals. Services on these routes are expected to commence soon.
Conclusion
Introducing electric buses in Islamabad represents a significant step towards sustainable urban mobility. This initiative is expected to provide residents with modern, eco-friendly, and efficient public transportation options, contributing to improved air quality and a better commuting experience in the capital city.
