On 16th March 2013, the federal government of Pakistan announced a hike in fuel prices. As per the finance division's notification, Platts Singapore prices increased over the past two weeks, and coupled with the depreciation of the Pakistani rupee, the result is the increased cost of petroleum products in the country. Although this decision may inconvenience many, it is a necessary response to global market trends that have led to a rise in crude oil prices.
