Quetta Launches International Driving Licenses
Quetta introduces International Driving Licenses, while KP simplifies driving with a digital system. A step forward for convenience and transparency in Pakistan.
The Balochistan government has taken a big step toward improving transport services by introducing International Driving Licenses in Quetta. The launch event was highlighted by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, who visited the Motorway Police’s Driving License Centre in Quetta. During his visit, the Chief Minister personally participated in both the theoretical and practical driving tests. By applying for his license, he set an example for others to follow the formal procedure.
Requirements for an International Driving License
To apply for an International Driving License, you will need:
- A completed application form.
- A copy of your CNIC.
- Two recent passport-size photographs.
- A copy of your valid Pakistani driving license.
- A copy of your Pakistani passport (valid for at least six months) with a visa.
- A ticket with the required fee is attached to the documents.
(Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa) KP Goes Digital with Driving Licenses
Balochistan isn’t the only province making changes. In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the transport system is also undergoing modernization.
The KP Transport Department has introduced a digital driving license system to make the process faster and more efficient. A new mobile app, “Dastak,” allows people to apply for licenses online. This system will help reduce fake licenses and fraudulent medical certificates. It also provides special benefits for Overseas Pakistanis.
This digital update is part of a larger project made possible through a partnership between the KP Transport Department and the KP Information Technology Board (KPITB). The agreement was signed at a ceremony in Hayatabad, attended by key officials, including the Special Assistants to the KP Chief Minister for Transport and IT.
Conclusion
Both Balochistan and KP are taking significant steps to modernize their transport systems. The introduction of International Driving Licenses in Quetta and the digital transformation in KP reflect a broader effort to make licensing processes more convenient, transparent, and efficient. These initiatives are not just about improving systems; they’re about paving the way for a safer and more streamlined future for drivers across Pakistan.
