Suzuki Alto Sales Drop Over Ban News
Rumors about Suzuki Alto stopping and a motorway ban have worried buyers. Pak Suzuki and NHA say the news is false, but sales still dropped 29%

The Suzuki Alto has always been a top-selling car in Pakistan because it is affordable, fuel-efficient, and easy to drive. However, recent rumors about a ban and discontinuation have confused buyers. These speculations and a big drop in sales have worried Suzuki Alto fans.
Sales Dropped Sharply
A few days ago, social media was full of false news claiming that:
- Suzuki Alto is being discontinued.
- Alto is banned from motorways.
These rumors, combined with falling sales, have created uncertainty. While car sales usually go up and down, such a big 29% drop in Alto sales is unusual. According to Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA)
- January 2025: 5,039 Alto units sold
- February 2025: 3,561 Alto units sold
Pak Suzuki’s Overall Sales Also Fell
Pak Suzuki’s total sales dropped by 35% in February 2025, selling only 5,330 cars compared to 8,250 in January. Other Suzuki models also had low sales:
- Cultus: 282 units
- Wagon R: 207 units
- Swift: 651 units
- Bolan: 9 units
- Ravi: 510 units
- Every: 110 units
False News About Ban & Discontinuation
Last week, rumors spread that Pak Suzuki was stopping Alto production and that the National Highway Authority (NHA) had banned Alto from motorways.
✅ Pak Suzuki has denied these rumors. The company is not stopping Alto production, but it may discontinue the Alto VX variant (which does not have airbags or ABS).
✅ NHA has confirmed that Alto is NOT banned from motorways. They called the news false and misleading.
Conclusion
The Suzuki Alto remains one of the most popular cars in Pakistan, but recent false rumors have negatively affected sales. If these speculations continue, the car may face a further decline in demand. However, since both Pak Suzuki and NHA have denied the news, buyers should not worry. If production continues smoothly, the Alto is expected to recover its position in the market.
